FAQ

WTF?

-You want the mission statement.

Comment moderation?

-If you write something dumb I’ll give you a warning.  If you write something egregiously dumb I will spam you.  That said, I welcome forceful and intelligent disagreement.

Still bored at work?

-Examine the annotated bibliography of web resources.

Archives?

-Head to the bottom of the page, and search by word, month, or topic.

Ads?

-No.  Except those pesky wordpress ones.  Sorry Sam.

Reviews/endorsement/product development?

-Maybe.  I’ve worked productively with a handful of companies testing, reviewing, and hopefully improving their products.  If you think I’d have something useful to say about your project, contact me.  If it’s something that fits into what I already do I’ve found these partnerships to be very fulfilling.

That being said, bear two things in mind: I view the overwhelming majority of outdoor reviews with at least some form of contempt; and I refuse to undertake a review or sponsorship project without full public disclosure.

Contact?

-Leave a comment here, on a relevant post, or email me.  Please bear in mind that the volume of my correspondence has ballooned lately, and that an email about a specific post/product/destination is more likely to be answered here on the blog (and serve as a resource for the person next month with the same question).

Twitter?

-Yes.

Facebook?

-I’m on there, but almost never use it.  For me FB epitomizes the worst shallowness of the internet.

Why all the big words?

-Bite me.

  1. Hello! I found you through the insane web of internet searching for a frame pack for my husbands bike! I am from Whitefish (class of 1994), my husband is from Kalispell and my best friend went to Oberlin (you had an Oberlin T-shirt on in your pics) It is such a small world!
My husband saw a documentary on “ride the divide” and is thinking about starting a training mission riding across Washington state. (we live in spokane now)
I would like to surprise him and make him a custom frame pack, but don’t know where to start. You seem to have it very together! :)
May I ask for pattern info, or advice on where to find a pattern to make one for him. I don’t sew, but am willing to try to make his trip better.
I understand if you don’t have time for such things! But thank you for the time you have given me so far!
    Sincerely,
    Carmen Hall

  2. Ric

I found you on BPL. I absolutely love your adventures, they rock! Wish I could find more time to escape the prison cell (corporate America) to get away and enjoy more wildernesses. Quite frankly two or three times a year just is not enough.

    Thanks for the posts

  4. Was reading through this to find your contact info and I see you’ve kindly called me out regarding advertising. That made my day!
