Weekend Update

Epic day in Zion Saturday: navigation errors and various complexities put us in the Narrows at 2020, at the end of the road a bit before midnight. In season at Zion, one can only use the shuttle in the main canyon, and the last bus leaves at 2200. Ergo, we bivvied in the handicapped bathroom. I slept a bit, M didn’t at all. Fortunately it was not cold.

I don’t know when our laptop is due back from the shop, so pictures will be forthcoming when they are. There should be some decent ones.

I’m taking it easy next weekend. Really.

  1. Wow, sounds like a bit of an epic.Did you really sleep in a bathroom? You must have been exhausted. I think I would have walked the nine miles down to Springdale rather than resort to that, but not if I was really tired. Can’t wait for pics.

  2. I’ve done that a few times =)its outa the wind at least =)

  3. Yeah, I was really tired. More than anything, my feet were bruised up from sliding around and slamming into rocks in the dark. I figured a two hour walk down the road, then we would’ve had to drive all the way back up to Lava point to get the second truck (and M and I’s sleeping gear). Sleeping seemed like the lesser evil.Plus, the small handicapped stall was smaller, warmer, and didn’t really smell at all. If I had had a jacket for my legs (wearing shorts) I would’ve slept pretty well.

  4. You’re hardcore dude ;-)Ed

  5. Dave should clarify- it wasn’t so much a handicap Stall, as a seperate handicap room- and considering not all that many handicap folks make it out there- it’s pretty clean compared to the other ones :)
