Good morning, dammit

Bit of bad news this morning, learning that Dave Harris ate it off a bridge yesterday during the last stage of the BC Bike Race. Not a season ending injury, luckily. Best of luck to Dave with the return trip and recovery.

In our world, we’re going hiking. Just enough time for a light breakfast.

Last night Eric and I got in a fantastic night ride, a bit over two hours of the best rock gardens in Prescott. I did pretty good, and after the better part of an hour started to feel like I could actually do stuff, and cleaned a few sections at least as easily as I ever have during the day. The Switchback/Corona combo continues to work ideally.

Eric did some very good riding on technical terrain, as usual. He sprints ahead and cleans the hard stuff I don’t, then I diesel back on the easy parts. Especially considering that his big Dinoette (sp?) head light was DOA, and his smallish Light and Motion bar light kept falling off it’s mount, he had a good ride. And some cool crashes.

Gorgeous views of Venus, the stars, and nice evening breezes. I was up until midnight, first time in quite a while.

Best wishes.

  1. Fixed the L & M mount last night. What good is a fuse if you don’t have a spare. Lesson learned. The light performed as designed: Broke at the fuse, and did not damage the mount or light. The Dinotte battery simply wasn’t charged. Total user error. I was plugging it in, but the battery wasn’t connected to the charger for some reason and I thought it was. Lesson learned. Check carefully.Great riding. Have fun hiking.
