Remembrance

Of the old days. My friend Renan from back in my Colorado College days has been busy lately.

It’s funny to read about him climbing 5.12 on big mountains these days, as 6 years ago he could barely climb 5.10. Always stoked, whether it was about bouldering in the gym, drinking whiskey, or extreme sledding on the west side of Pike’s Peak.

Especially funny given how weak I am at climbing these days. Choices.

  1. So what you’re saying is- this guy used to way suck when you rocked out- now he’s being written up in the premier American climbing magazine (that isn’t all commercial garbage, but prizes a light, fast, and hardcore climbing ethic) and you’re sitting around noticing the only thing you climb these days is the hill up to your classroom (which no one seems interested in writing about).Next.

  2. I have no idea what half the words in that article meant. You’re the best Dave:)

  3. Ha ha! Meredith is funny. You asked when I’d be in AZ – I believe the dates are Sept. 21-23. Hiking Bright Angel south rim to north on Sept. 22. All that fun tourist stuff.

  4. We’re there, J.And M’s just pissed cuz she can’t climb 5.10, let alone 5.12 like (umhmmm) some people present used to.
