Recovery

Yesterday was a very nice day. I did, seemingly, nothing.

Don’t have to go to work, sleep in, eat waffles with M, hang around, read, unpack, organize, clean, fix the bikes, swap tires, mess with the indexing, break a stem bolt (any homebrew fixes, or is it off to the shop with me?), do laundry, organize, clean, do dishes, organize, read, eat sandwiches, sit, shop for groceries, and make a tasty dinner!:

Shells stuffed with Ricotta-Bison mix, with spinach and artichoke hearts (in mine).

-cook shells halfway
-saute ground bison with garlic, olive oil, diced red bell peps, and season to taste
-mix bison with ricotta, add a ~1/4 cup of reserved pasta water and some grated romano (and whatever veggies you see fit)
-stuff shells, cover with sauce to taste (cover the shell surfaces or they’ll dry out), grate on more romano, bake for 25 @300
-eat and marvel

Not only does this have tons of taste and nutrition, its in the vein of dishes that make it very easy to accommodate the tastes of two people, when they may be very different. Important for maintaining marital tranquility. And it’s way faster than it sounds!

M may not have been as productive as usual with me around, but she got fed much better than is typical, and I had fun. M’s website is up! Go buy stuff, perfect for those impossible holiday presents for mothers, grandmothers, etc! Last minute shopping galore! Help fund the noble cause of disc brakes and zebra cakes so M can go kick it at TIv4!!!!!

I have decided, on that note, to not ride TI, but to go in support. To facilitate, M has volunteered to run support crew for me sometime in the weeks before, so I can do a solo Zane Gray 50 (which is the same day, otherwise). As soon after Coyote as recovery allows. So, we may road trip out, or we may fly, but I’ll be lurking around to help, heckle, and foto that weekend.

Yeah!

Matt Chester is back, for those very few of you readers who did not already know. Newly married, back in good health, and most importantly for folks like me who have never met him and have no intention of ever acting on the impulse to buy a 2k frame rather than another Surly, he’s writing again.

I read an reread his blog and essays in 63xc a few years ago, he’s as good as any and far far better than most at making riding a fixie on dirt seem intelligent. He’s also just generally a smart sounding dude, so his thoughts are most welcome. First major re-foray into tech wennie slash asthete land can be found here. I just finished putting old Oury’s back on the Monk in eventual preparation for it’s return to glory, but his idea would seem to have merit, and style. And I agree, Specialized Ridge gloves are pretty much perfect (how does he ride Midges with XXL hands?! I want longer hooks and I have M hands!)
