Project Day

Took advantage of still smoked legs and a traumatic visit to the dentist to stay quiet and home and work on some unfinished projects. For instance, dinner:

Whole wheat calzone. Stuffed with: fresh roasted red bell pepper, roasted garlic, spinach, broccoli, ricotta, marinara, turkey italian sausage, romano. Crust wasn’t my best, but the filling is by far the best I’ve ever made.

I also changed the filter in our heating duct. Maybe we’ll have less dust and I’ll feel less guilty about never dusting now.

Busted out some grad school apps; almost done. Almost.

And first and not least, tore apart my Jandd frame pack and made it fit the Lev (inspired by Scott’s excellent rig).

Figured I’d swap a bottle for easier access to food and whatnot, one of the things that slowed me down without need in the APC.

Good birthday weekend on tap. Santa Rita circumnav with the Tucson mafia, mex food and drinking (right Chad?), then a likely trip to Organ Pipe NM Sunday. Need to see SoAZ while we’re still here.

I hate the dentist.

  1. First: Happy Birthday. 28?Second: No BCT on Sun? I was debating furiously how to get there for that.Third: Learn to use the macro function on the camera. That looks very good (would be better in focus) and I would like the recipe.Fourth: your card arrived today, thanks for the very kind words.

  2. I keep telling him to back up – and zoom in once the photo is in Picasa – but he never listens…

  3. E, I think the river crossings may be problematic. Better to wait; I’ll do it with ya anytime. It’s 27. Ahhhh!Word of the day: Missouri. (ending with a hard “a”)

  4. Nice. Forget grad school though and become a Chef. Are you actually considering Mizzou?

  5. I was talking about the election. My way in hell am I ever living in the midwest again. And as for working in restaurants: too much work.

  6. Thanks for the card, yo! Happy New Year!Every time I see a closeup picture taken by you, I wonder how much beer you’ve had?Ed

  7. I blame the technology.

  8. Ed- you’re too nice, you think he’s drunk, whereas every time I see one of his out of focus pictures I think he’s too stupid to use the camera and/or too lazy to retake the picture. The bad macro really is the camera’s fault though – it’s a cheap little guy I bought a few hours before I left to get Selma. I broke our better digital by dropping it during a canyon exploit. D thought it better to just get a cheap one, so he wouldn’t feel bad taking it all over the place and breaking it.He has several old-school, non-digital cameras for when he wants to take serious photos…

  9. I like my $9 digital camera, its the size of a roll of quarters and is perfect to take on rides. I also like film, but haven’t done much of that lately. By the way, the calzone does look good. Happy 27th.
