A normal day

As if such a thing exists.

Get home from work. Lurk around, eat some, odds and ends, go for a ride. Kill and drill out 305 on the SS, hills felt as close as ever to effortless. Head back, find a cool, low-traffic way to ride home, with a few bonus hills on pavement. Eat more, News Hour, etc.

Now is entering crunch time for big season goals. My goal is three quality power sessions per week, big stuff on the weekends, and to ride the bike every day. EVERY day until the end of May. No complacency.

I also have to get this fugly thing worked out. Taking inspiration from Steve, I’m trying the shifters moto for the moment. The size of the clamps cause the trigger and the brake to just not get along well together. I have new canti-pull levers on the way, some fun, vintage bling from a fine soul on MTBR. Hopefully they’ll be a bit more svelte.

The visual effects help obfuscate the poor lighting, too.

The complications do make me appreciate this fine machine, simple in it’s satisfactions.

This evening also help this pleasant surprise from the Times: But water is an inexorable force that, sooner or later, will assert itself. Nice to see such thoughts in that forum.

The big piece of news is that the McTurge is coming to town this weekend. Need dirt, climbing, he says. And we deliver. The Brown Cloud may also be in attendance, if he can shirk some obligations. Basic idea will be to ride what the PMC should have been, if logistics and a few (illegal) No Trespassing signs had not interceded.

There’s some good empty country not far from the bright lights. Anyone looking for a nice 80-90 mile ride with loads of climbing Saturday, give us notice.

That will do.

  1. Did you ride to/from 305 from your house?Lots o’ spinning that would be.I’m out tomorrow afternoon, not sure where to go? 305? GB? 305 conditions?

  2. 305 has a few mud patches, otherwise it’s hero dirt all the way. (M dropped me at the TH, and I rode home). Some flowing water in the larger washes. Lynx Creek is totally full below the reservoir, which is neat to see.GB would be fun. When and where? I could get out of afternoon meetings by claiming I have to go “see my surgeon” about important matters.

  3. 1300 or so at the turn off on Iron springs near the old railroad grade.Up road to 37, up to 40, down into GB, tool around and out 2-3 hours.

  4. Wish I could make the drive. can you email me some info about bike camp? If plans continue the way they are going I might be there rather than somewhere else…

  5. 3 power session/wk + monster rideWow, that type if training schedule will take you to the next levelmakes what I can do look laughablego for it!!!!!!
