Wrench Day

That’s what Monday has become. So, welcome the newest addition in the quest for Leviathan perfection:

Old school Avid SingleDigit 2.0 Levers. Adjustable pull (the little screw on the top of the blade), looooong lever blades, mint condition, super cheap via MTBR contact. As the literature says, they even work with Roller Cams!

The pull adjust makes them oh so very sweet with the Avid Road discs. The long blades make 1 and even 2 finger braking possible from the very back of the H-bar. And they are smoooove as silk.

I think we have a winner.

The XTR trigger and lever work perfectly. I did mount the levers “backwards” so the bolt would not get in the way. The thumb shifter may need some tweaking, but it works fine for the moment.

Testing to begin this week. I even put a 38t big ring on! Racing! Yeah!!!

  1. Mmmmmmmm… beer and wrenching on the bike.

  2. Way to run with the ugly, might as well keep a good thing going!

  3. I remember those levers, they do work great with mech discs. Your bikes are ugly though, I have to agree :)

  4. Chris, I’m crying deep inside…. ;)Got some quality miles in today, steeeeeep and loose ATV trail fall-line descents. The ability to move all the way back on the bars, thus shortening the cockpit, is gonna be really cool. And those levers, ohmygawd, hydro-like smoothness and power. The big ring is welcome, too. Did 305, Salida Gulch, bonus and then home on the Old Black Canyon Highway. Pushing 25+ slightly downhill on washboard was an evening highlight.Riding bikes is awesome.

  5. Maybe you should get some purple anno, then I’ll be crying deep inside ;)I am soo jealous of you riding dirt as I look outside at more white s3$%! It’s only a couple inches and I’ll ride anyway but I want to rip some trails. I think the time is coming to get out of dodge soon to somewhere with dirt to ride. Arggg matey…

  6. I’ll bring the camera on the ride today ;)
