Tminus 2Days (!)

Got out for just a ride this beautiful afternoon. Businesslike on the singlespeed, plenty of fun moments running at rocks, plenty of moments leaning on the TT checking out the scene.

Thought I saw some Enel tracks along the wash: Exi/Nevegal combo taking “unique” lines amongst and over certain boulders.

Granite Mountain is a cool place. Highest density of Mountain Lions in the US, they say. I’ve still never seen one. It’s riding I shall miss.

Otherwise, chores around the house in prep of LEAVING. Bought supplies, started making snacks (we’ll see if the Oregonians can handle the guac), and did laundry. Highlight of the later would be unpacking my race clothes from the D2D-SBFL weekend. Yep, the shorts, shirts, and socks from the two days have spent the last 10 days stuffed in my plastic goodie bag from D2D, quietly rotting in my laundry bin.

They smelled rather interesting, and when hurled into the tub and immersed posthaste, turned the water ice tea colored faster than any teabag.

Brings me to the evenings lifestyle statement, one more thing brought to the fore of my mind by discussions of moving. I would much rather have a dishwasher than a washer and dryer. Which is how things have been for the last two years. I despise doing dishes, and they need to be done far more often. Laundry, in contrast, can be done occasionally by hand and rack dried, especially easy around here in every season but winter. Every two or three months I get sick of the backlog of nonessential items backlogging the bin and make a trip to the laundromat. It may need to change in the future, but it’s work well.

M is safe and sound in Iowa. Her checked bag got separated, but refound her before closing time this evening, thus alleviating any superfluous freaking out. I got called three times this afternoon and evening. I’d be nervous too, and that wouldn’t help, but, just sayin……

Wish her well. Tomorrow I’m posting our schedule for the week, insofar as it exists, so that some of you slackers can get off the couch and come join us. If you ain’t skeered.

PS: Dry X held air just dandy on the ride. I really, really like that tire, and tubeless seems to let it stick just that much better on the kitty litter corners. Granite Basin rides like Buff Creek, with more rock and less hills.

  1. Go M! Best of luck and may the gravel of Iowa be dry and fast for you. Dave – you are going to want a washer and dryer in MT. It is amazing how much more laundry we do for winter activities than during the summer ss jersey & shorts season.

  2. You just keep turning the screw in the back of my head… woke up to another day of wind & sleet… 2.25 weeks until skool is out = desert bound!

  3. DB, that is a good point. I do (vaguely) recall midwest winters.Damn.Blair, it’ll be my turn to bitch soon.Damn.

  4. You must be part indian because you nailed the fact that it was indeed me, and that the combo was Exi/Nev.Sorry I missed you, I finished about 1630, and had a great 2.5 hr ride on the Ventana FS of all things.Did you see the vultures near the dead fox midpoint of Mint wash?

  5. I didn’t get out until 1700. No fox, oddly. (or I didn’t notice)I like tracking, have since I was a kid. Bike tracks are easy. And your lines, especially on your favorite rock, are a dead giveaway.

  6. Okay – one of those calls was just to tell you about that Grizzly Bear Attack!!!
