Memorial Day

Ride with Eric.

Woke up at 0530, as usual. Hung out, ate, did chores, ate, more chores, ate. Took a two hour nap. M went shopping (for food) during (immediately after, actually) my somnolence. Ran into Eric, told him I “had done nothing” thus far (not totally true). Eric called. Off we went.

It was a perfect day. Gorgeous weather, tacky dirt, good company.

The GPS says I hit 32 mph at some point. Crazy.

Looking to the future, I think I’m taking a bikepacking trip next weekend. Idea is to ride from home, up to Flag, then on to the Grand Canyon on the AZT. The rack is ready to be mounted on the Lev, the new bash ring passed the rock smacking test today, and all is ready.

Anyone?

Edit: E’s photo of me going HUGE! Yes, my wheels are actually in the air.

I was actually able to keep Eric in sight almost all the time descending, a new record.

  1. Jumping off picnic table embankments???You wouldn’t try that sort of thing by yourself…Eric’s a bad influence on you, isn’t he???

  2. Actually, I was able to show Brian some more sweet retaining wall jumps on Sunday.Moab is a bad influence.

  3. Put your vid up on my blog. Not to burst your bubble, but I did sorta slow up on 40 a few times:OI was proud of you coming down the waterfall section on 40 though. That took guts. Were you able to figure out the elevation gained for the ride?

  4. A bit over 3000′.ion
