The fleet.
New additions: NOS WTB SST on the monkey, Gobi XM on the Lenz, XDXs all over (save a WW on the heavy front wheel), Arch/Comp/Hope Pro II SS (old one) rear wheel on the Lenz, Obama spoke cards.
Mike builds pretty wheels.
Evangelizing.
The Surly flip-flop/Comps/Open Sport wheel has held up remarkably well. It’s all about a good build, I reckon. Good, light tubeless wheels rule. I converted this one tubeless with a split road tube. The XDX is tight enough that it works well, aired up easy, and should end the curse of pinch flats for good. The XDX is a good singlespeed tire, as well as geared.
I haven’t put much time in on the Gobi yet, but I think it will prove a fav. A good shape, enough padding, cut away in the right places, lots of room to move around. The SST is less of a hit thus far. Same shape as the old Pure V, a nice smooth leather cover, but the back of the padding is a bit distinctly hard thus far. Something that may improve with time.
I like my bikes.
