Bedrock & Paradox

I dream of a hard and brutal mysticism in which the naked self merges with a non-human world and yet somehow survives still intact, individual, separate. Paradox and bedrock.

This morning

Was beautiful. And now, 7 minutes later, it’s gone.

I said the other day I’d ponder my options for future adventures, specifically next summer, so here is the short list as it stands today:

-JMT fastpack
-Hardrock 100 (if I get in!)
-Great Divide Race/tour with Chad
-hang around the Missoula area and enjoy summer, maybe do some packrafting if I have a raft by then

The first two have been discussed previously. As for the third, I’ll be living within a few hours of the start, and Chad within a few of the finish. And it would be a helluva adventure.

More than anything, I’ll have to let the natural cycles of school life dictate.

    You little b!itch…I’ve bugged you about the GDR a ga-billion times, to stalwart denials, and now you admit the festering vision in the back of your mind, on your blog!!!You even woke me up this morning, and now I can’t get back to sleep… it’s 7:16 and I’ve been awake half an hour – so very, very wrong – and you couldn’t even tell me before you left for work!!!

    Meredith – LOL. Geoff and I have the same relationship. Since a blog is such a convenient place to dump stream-of-consciousness, blog usually knows first what I’m thinking about. But Geoff is always asking me why he has to read my blog to find out about my plans.You guys should both ride the Great Divide next summer. I’m on the long fence about it, but knowing other people are mulling it definitely helps with the consideration. Then Meredith and I could do Trans-Iowa as a training ride.
