A mountain, a beer, a wreck, and words

Yesterday was a fun day. Got my practicum paperwork and schedule all hammered out, then went to hike up a mountain.

The opposite view from M’s picture last week.

The M is only a third of the way to the top of Mount Sentinal, 1800′ in less than 2 miles, a hike I’ll be making often I think.

46 minutes up today.

Well earned.

After hanging out in the afternoon, M and I rode out to the Rattlesnake and met up with the crew for the Thursday night ride. I pushed the 36:18 around pretty well, dismounting and running along behind Bill once, and taking two breaks but riding everything on the last climb. Then trouble arose.

I was cooking down the last descent, and actually had made the corner, when both wheels hit some gravel over hardpack and down I went. A very clean fall, but I slid a good ways on my right side before coming to a halt. Ouch. Lost some skin, embedded some dirt, and did a good bit of bruising, though I wasn’t as creaky this morning as I expected.

Life goes on.

As an addendum, some good suffering.
