A beautiful morning

Mt Sentinel in 33 minutes without really trying, hang out on top in a 20 mph wind.  Dark thin cloudbanks, corduroying the Clark Fork Valley from north to south.  Sheep Mountain and Point Six socked in.  Rage the downhill, spin home.

The CTCs are really good shoes.  I’m almost forgotten.

I made Thursday Night ride last night, going straight from class and riding in carhartts with 20 lbs of books in the Talon.  That was all fine, until ~2.5 miles from pavement my back wheel locked up.  Not my freewheel, the actual fucking axle.  Diagnosed this afternoon as a a blown driveside bearing and a loosened outer driveside locknut allowed the inner retaining cone nuts to snug down via pedal action.  Or something like that.  In any case, strapping the frame to my pack and carrying the wheels back in the dusk to meet M (who graciously drove to rescue me) was no fun.
So, ya know, maintain your damn equipment.  Duh.
Today was another gorgeous day, and class from only 8-11 makes one day seem like two.  I love the Rattlesnake.  So amazing to have such a stellar collection of singletrack a pleasant 25 minute ride from home.
