Will I regret it? Probably a little, but after a week of forced inaction and contemplation I’m convinced it’s the right thing.

Large blue Lenz Sport Leviathan. Used well for 14 months, a number of blemishes, functionally perfect. Comes with; custom rack-ready seatstays (one of two sets in existence), mango King headset (without crown race), spare derailleur hanger, factory seat clamp. $1000.

29er disc/rim front wheel. Surly quick-release hub, DT Swiss Supercomp spokes, green alloy nipples, Mavic A719 rim. 32h, three cross. Stiff, lively, straight and true. $110.

    Makes me sad to see this. You will gain in depth of experience I’m sure.I can’t imagine ever selling a bike for some other piece of gear.

    I would like to officially go on record as saying I think D should not sell the bike, buy ski boots and bindings in the next month or so with money he’s saved, then use holiday and birthday monies (as well as more saved money) to purchase the pack-raft come February -which would allow him to ski all winter and be set with a raft come spring and still have a full suspension mountain bike for trips next summer…as opposed to selling his bike so that he can buy a pack-rack right at the start of winter in Montana… not get his skis set up till half way through the season and not have a mountain bike with rear bounce or gears next year…just saying.

    Going everyday singlespeed in Montana. Bold move. I agree with Meredith, though, that it’s best to keep the gear you have and work around other aspects to acquire new gear. Maybe you can find a good cheap used set of skis, boots and bindings. I paid about $80 for my first Nordic set in ’06, which was the perfect amount to discover I didn’t like skiing (and I really thought I would.) You never know.

    We shall see. My price is firm. If it doesn’t sell, I’ll keep it around. Already got the skis, need tele binding and likely plastic tele boots. $$ on that last.

    Um, I can understand equipment coming and going. Especially with all the snow you’ll soon enjoy. The less biking – more adventuring part is causing most of my confusion. From what I understand, a whole other country (and all the best riding in it) is only a half day’s drive north of you. Don’t make me show you…
