Infomercials

(Said as if everything else is not.)

Not bad.  It lost it’s momentum towards the end, trending away from specific embodiments of salient details in modern American life.  A hard needle to thread, but some of the generalities used (and footage duplicated) at the end was I presume for the benefit of channel-surfers.

Thankfully absent; any mention of John McCain.  He ought to’ve been ignoring Mc since the last debate.  To go back to The West Wing (how similar was the footage, especially school backdrop, of Obama’s annoucement to that of Santos?!); “This campaign should be all about you.”  Not because Obama is a mirror of the views of the majority, but because he appeals to the higher aspirations of the majority.  He lost that back in late summer, and is getting some of it back.  Soon enough?
We’ll find out.
Go vote.  (On election day!  I wouldn’t vote early for money, especially now!)
Edit:
It took them long enough!

  1. Voting on election day is for those without jobs:)Mail is the way to go baby.I do not believe Obama mirrors the views of the majority. His views are as polarizing and possibly more so than McCain’s left of center record. Not to say he won’t win, he will.

  2. I was thunking of voting early but after reading this I get the feeling I am not doing something right. Please explain. Night ride tomorrow night … let me know. If not, buy you a beer Fri ?

  3. Thanks for posting it – I got home, grabbed your computer, and was trying to find it on the Obama website, without much luck, then went through my Reader list on my computer and found your post :)The ending is funny. Could have been stronger, ah well, overall I think it was nice and happy and non-threatening, even if it was also scripted like Woah! around a few stereotypes…details. Also – parting shot of Obama shouldn’t have been him getting into the plane, as JFK had just disembarked from a plain before getting shot and the stairs Obama was on in that last frame are very old school, few people board planes on steps anymore, so it makes them think of old-time planes…or maybe that was just me.

  4. Oh – and there should have been a reference to his Christianity as some point, and the 15 seconds of him laughing with his family seemed really fake and posed…that could have appeared more genuine…

  5. I love actually voting, going into the school/church/etc, talking with the poll workers, getting excited, etc. And I always go first thing. AZ polls open at 0630, MT at 0700.

  6. Bill, I have class until 6 (as always), and stuff to do after. KHouse tomorrow evening? I’ll bring my parents along for some local colour.

  7. Here’s your next infomercial:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2Lg1myJmycApplies everywhere except the great state of Utah :(
