Photo voice is a tool for community organizing and empowerment.  Given the extent to which technology has saturated some of the world’s most oppressed populations faster than literacy, PV is a very timely thing.  The projects linked at the mothership site are quite moving.

The following are my PV ruminations, sitting on the cusp of my last month as a masters student.

The act of giving folks digital cameras and publicizing the results may seem an inadequate response to global problems.  However, I’ve become increasingly convinced that the grains of sand approach is the only one that gives durable, long term effects, and that education and consciousness-raising are two of only a few ways to get the rock rolling.
