Results are up!

I was 12 minutes off the podium in 4th!  Drat!  How many ways could I have trimmed those minutes?!  There’s always something…

Some photos are also available.  Here is a selection with a focus on how awesome I am.

To get the on-river photos they had someon up on the highway 200 bridge with a big lens. It’s a very fun little riffle at the low water we had, this photo makes it look more gnar than it was.
Here I’m at the take out, psyching up for the crux section of the whole race.

Hauling my 58 pound boat up to the road.

Bridget, solo women’s winner and sole entrant, got it done on a cheap mountain bike and a $20 Wal-mart boat.

Jenny looking photogenic after seven hours in the woods.

I like this photo because it shows what I did for an hour after I finished: pick burrs off my knee warmers.

Bill congratulating Larry on a hard won finish.  Larry got lost at couple times, had search and rescue called on him, but avoided them and gutted it out under his own power.

Good stuff.  In the post yesterday I neglected to mention one of my favorite things about the format: the ambiguity of the most efficient route, bonus checkpoints, and bushwacking sections made it effectively impossible to have a clue who and where your competition was.  I think I’ll do more of these.

  1. Nice selection of photos, I love the boat hauling one. Ahh, sitting at work I am really missing being lost…o/o

  2. Looks like a blast! I've got to try something like this before too much longer…

  3. I didn't see you amongst the photos Bill, reckon you were too fast.

  4. Great stuff! I feel like a Schmuck for missing this. Is that how Schmuck is spelled?
