Amazingly clear day. Clearest since we moved here in October last? Likely. Certainly the clearest day since the beginning of November, at least that’s been above 5F.
Looking NNE over downtown Kalispell. The Big Mountain ski hill is right on the left edge. White peaks in the far distance, center, are in Glacier NP. Northern Swan Crest on the right.
More of the same, showing how amazingly monolithic the Swan Crest is from town. The ridge is right around 4000′, on average, above the valley floor. The above stretch teases me (when I can see it at all!) from our office window.
Central-southern Swans on the left and center, Mission Mountains off into the distance, right of center. You can even see the Flathead Reservoir on the far right.
It’s funny corner of the world, ours, with far too many foggy days in the dead of winter. But on occasion, we’re reminded why it is worthwhile. Our wicked snowpack is going to make for pandemonium come packrafting season.
