Two weeks
Is a very long time. So much has gone on in my last two, and I have so much I want to share. It’ll have to come in bits. Right now I am very glad to be home, to not be driving, and tired. So only a few things stand out. 2 Epic: Too crazy,…

The british are coming
Taken at the origin of Dorchester’s arming, Knox’s greatest labor, and the eldest Howe’s downfall. Where? Headed back to the motherland tomorrow. Then off to talk a lot and see if I still got it. Yo.

Marcy
Finally got on top of Mt. Marcy (highest in NY) yesterday. Third time the charm after being stormed off previously. We started at the ADK Loj, went up the Phelps Brook trade route, then dropped off the south side and returned via Lake’s Colden and Avalanche. 17 miles, 11 hours, 4k of up. And bottomless…

A few from the ‘dacks
One of my favorite places to go take a walk in the woods. Weather was vintage; around 1400 a light and steady rain rolled in, and hasn’t stopped since. We’re in Lake Placid, with a great sixth floor view of Mirror Lake. Mom and sis are contemplating roller-Bobsled rides tomorrow if it’s still raining.

Things I’ve seen lately
Got in a quick overnight backpack at Crater of the Moon National Monument on the way down to SLC. T-storms moving through the area made it a gorgeous evening. A very cool place, worthy of return visits. And in very good shape from a wet spring. NYC. Not much else to say. Museums, fantastic food,…

Ready
Yesterday morning I got out on the last official training ride before the KMC 200. I know the last ~10 day training block has gone well because even after two days off the bike, I struggled on the two 30 minute climbing repeats. With a fairly large and totally off the bike taper, the strategy…

Sometimes you can’t take it with you
So you go for a hike. Big water. Everywhere. No chance of dry shoes on this one. I did some exploring, and two thigh deep crossings of Bass Creek induced ice cream headaches. Dinner was ok, too. It’s not headlamp worthy until 2200 around here these days. So I could start a 15+ mile ramble…

KMC plans
On the evening of the 11th I’m flying into SLC from a week tapering and visiting with my mom and sister in New York. I hope to arrive in camp that evening, but may not make it until the next morning. Friday I’ll ride a little bit, check some water sources (Kanabownitts Spring?), and…

Riding bikes is fucking awesome
And the road goes on.. Up a little after 5 for an adventure this morning. Mission, to ride the Nez Perce trail (aka the McGruder Corridor road) out and back, for either 100 miles, until snow stops me, or until I come to a rad vista and decide enough is enough. Option B took me…

Nice morning for a ride
Not much more to be said. I’m almost totally recovered from Sunday, which is a good sign. The view from Sentinel was exceptionally fine today. Spring has sprung, with emphasis. Snow levels are retreating drastically, the Clark Fork is brown and hungry at 30,000+ cfs, Rattlesnake creek looks packraftable (next year), and the flowers are…
