Saturday
Just another Saturday at college. Got home late last night, drank too much, woke up not quite hungover. Actually, that’s the first time I’ve done that here in Missoula. Not an occurrence destined to be common. Eventually I motivated, M and I found coffee, pastry, and quiche at Bernice’s Bakery, some goods at the farmers…

Poo
Yep, that’s what it is. Huckleberry induced explosive bear poo. From yesterday. In other news, make sure you check in on Eric. Good stuff as usual. And some more things of interest from Prof. Dial.

Glacier catharsis
I was talking with my mom Sunday evening (it was her birthday, and I try to be a good kid) when the course of our conversation reminded me; Going-to-the-Sun road in Glacier National Park would soon be closed, and not long after snowed and avalanched in for the winter. Time to go.The cats and dogs…

Bias
Why when I go over the bars (as I did on a nasty damp root yesterday) do I almost always eject vaguely but purposively to the right? The right hook on my H-bar and right lever are taking a beating this year. (Note spirit animal on the bars, and that thing in the left corner..)…

"..for those who seek."
1349, Sat: Geoff is KILLING it!!!!!! Allez!!! It’s a big weekend. Geoff at the Wasatch 100, Bill at the MT state championships, and almost everyone else at the Vapor Trail. Tonight I drink and eat in their honor. “Before there was aromatherapy, there was bacon.” Bacon, garlic, scallions, red bell pepper, the last of…

Lenz and wheel for sale
It’s the end of an era. Less biking, more adventuring. Sell Lenz, buy Alpacka. Will I regret it? Probably a little, but after a week of forced inaction and contemplation I’m convinced it’s the right thing. So, for sale: Large blue Lenz Sport Leviathan. Used well for 14 months, a number of blemishes, functionally perfect.…

Weeks are busy..
..around here. Happening of note (other than school, etc) was the monthly Fat Tire cruiser ride, sponsored by New Belgian. Show up, ride around town for an hour or so, go to the pub (where M works) and get a few free NB drafts for your trouble. I wrangled Kelly from Fairbanks into going along.…

Trail gaiters
Took advantage of completed homework, a rainy day, and a closed university library (WTF!?) to complete a few projects. Scotch brand stick-on “velcro” and barge cement on the shoes, and dental floss and a leather needle on the gaiters, should rid me of those damn shredded instep straps forever. Since I got these spandura…

The race revisited
The general election is in full swing. Almost everyone in our small corner of the world has written of it, at least briefly. My turn again. I do not believe the context or details of the election has changed fundamentally in the last 10 months. Clinton self-destructed, Giuliani never got out of the blocks, and…

A beautiful morning
Mt Sentinel in 33 minutes without really trying, hang out on top in a 20 mph wind. Dark thin cloudbanks, corduroying the Clark Fork Valley from north to south. Sheep Mountain and Point Six socked in. Rage the downhill, spin home. The CTCs are really good shoes. I’m almost forgotten. 8/29 add.: I made Thursday…
