Finally got on top of Mt. Marcy (highest in NY) yesterday. Third time the charm after being stormed off previously. We started at the ADK Loj, went up the Phelps Brook trade route, then dropped off the south side and returned via Lake’s Colden and Avalanche. 17 miles, 11 hours, 4k of up. And bottomless…

One of my favorite places to go take a walk in the woods. Weather was vintage; around 1400 a light and steady rain rolled in, and hasn’t stopped since.  We’re in Lake Placid, with a great sixth floor view of Mirror Lake.  Mom and sis are contemplating roller-Bobsled rides tomorrow if it’s still raining.

Got in a quick overnight backpack at Crater of the Moon National Monument on the way down to SLC.  T-storms moving through the area made it a gorgeous evening.  A very cool place, worthy of return visits.  And in very good shape from a wet spring.
