One more

Woke up, drank coffee, ate a bagel, went to work.

Had a “surprise” lunch for Teacher Appreciation Day. Got an award from the students for being “the most sarcastic, funny, and strict.” And a fancy pen.

Had mind-numbing meeting with our inarticulate and verbose QC director before said lunch. I think he takes his demotion from last year out on us via paperwork.

Worked on upteenth curriculum replan: high school World History, meeting ALL the state requirements in one semester. Sent plan to boss for feedback.

Came home, hung out with M, slept on couch.

“Just road” for 1 hour. Redecided for the upteenth time that my bike kicks ass, and that 305 is one of the best singletracks anywhere.

Came home, ordered pizza.

Picked up pizza, ate while driving, got hot grease on steering wheel.

Delivered pizza to student for prize in research competition. She found the author of “Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent.” (Wittgenstein) without using our English teacher.

Assisted with various issues while not technically working, had good conversation with student about meaning indeterminacy (not citing Quine), the unending task of historiography, and Socratic knowledge.

Wandered around and made silly jokes. Was complemented for “having long toes” on two occasions (I don’t wear sandals while on the clock).

Came home, drank water, typed.

Addendum, list of attributions (from students) today for my new ‘do:

Wolverine
James Buchanan (!)
A pirate

Old
Some guy from That 70’s Show
Some guy from the 80’s

  1. Well- your toes are freakishly long- though I don’t know why anyone said you looked like you were from the 80’s… then again most of your students don’t have memories of the 80’s so I’ll forgive them.Did you give extra credit to the girl who knew James Buchanan???

  2. They go together very well.
