I dream of a hard and brutal mysticism in which the naked self merges with a non-human world and yet somehow survives still intact, individual, separate. Paradox and bedrock.
Written and directed by Brad Bird and displaying the usual meticulousness associated with the Pixar brand, “Ratatouille” is a nearly flawless piece of popular art, as well as one of the most persuasive portraits of an artist ever committed to film. It provides the kind of deep, transporting pleasure, at once simple and sophisticated, that movies at their best have always promised.
And he’s correct. M cooerced me into seeing it yesterday, and it more than meets the hype. Recommended.

Saw it on the 4th. Good movie, but couldn’t touch the Incredibles (my personal favorite). All in all my least favorite of the Pixar films, but still better than the vast majority of films out there.Maybe I don’t love food enough.Favorite quote: “Food is fuel”
funny, jill has been trying to talk me into seeing this with her for the past couple days. i suppose if you we’re willing to give in and ultimately enjoyed it then maybe i should just go for it.
