Mountain Fixie ride

The newest iteration of the monkey got out for some fun this evening.

And fun it was.

I managed to crash on a slick granite ledge in the first 90 seconds, taking a few chunks out of my knee and Brooks. Afterwards, I got the spin and hover descending bit ok.

The bike is a fantastic compliment to the Lenz, lean and simple. Old trails felt new and challenging.

Brian also sent out a very pretty old school Ritchey ring. The ramps are quite elegant.

More than anything else, aside from the fun, was the humidity. Low lying clouds, damp everywhere, too much to wear glasses at all. Weird, still having odd midwestern flashbacks. This is not how the monsoon behaved last year.

  1. It’s a fun learning curve. Got out for a decently long ride today. The 38:18 grenades me a bit on pure singletrack, but is good for all around. The WTB drops are no good, I can’t find an angle that doesn’t kill my wrists.

  2. A little spit on the glasses might help. Miss you in flagstaff this weekend. We are headed up on the 20th for the old-fashion race…. want to go?
