Broken

The doctor came by a little while ago and put the hurt on me, checking out and confirming a suspicion based on the X-rays. Based on the fact that point pressure caused me, delayed 15 seconds, to feel light headed and have to sit down, I think I may be focusing on trail running for a while.

One of them damn little wrist bones is busted, Eric will have to tell us which.

So, I’ll be stopping researching bike rides in Tahoe and focusing on runs. And trying to not spend too much time cursing myself for being out on a ride when I thought better of it. Trust the gut, and the gut said I ought to have took a spin on the road and called it good. In the end, this will curtail my fun more than my training. And most of all test my patience.

Errrr.

  1. You broke the dorsal lip of your triquetrum. See here:http://www.gentili.net/fracture.asp?ID=154Click the xray for a close up. The paragraph about how the injury occurs is wrong, they occur with hyperextension (dorsiflexion). Yours is no where near as bad as that one. Barely broken, and very subtle, almost impossible to see without knowing where you are sore and a little imagination.More info here, look for the two paragraphs about triquetral fractures.http://www.emedicine.com/orthoped/topic36.htm

  2. PS:You’ll be fine, just brace with activity until it quits hurting in 3-4 weeks.

  3. Damn Dave, it has not been good lately for the blog crew. I had a big scare today but luckily it wasn’t the worse case scenario. I’ll try to get the full story up.Hope Enel is right and you’ll be back to normal in not too long.

  4. where dropping like flys right now….maybe if we where all put together we could be some frankienstien enduro freak….time to stop and smell the roses =)

  5. Yep. No one should follow our example. And again, thanks Eric for your time and expertise. Your diagnosis last night was confidence inspiring because you obviously knew what you were doing. I hate being injured, but even more I hate dwelling in ignorance. At least I can do most gym exercises, just did a strength workout on the deck as the sun came up. So it’s not all bad. Plus last night I organized the pile of spare bike parts!

  6. I just knocked on wood.Heal up fast Dave!Ed
