Old and new

Got new-to-me, and almost totally new, ATAC Aliums and cleats from ebay. Now both of my bikes have joined the 21st century.

Interesting to see what 7 months of hikes and dabs will do.

On a more serious note, I have a choice to make, and require assistance. I have a paid week off work (fall break) that is mine to take at my leisure, with some restrictions. (I’m not one to let PTO sit unused!) I can take the first week in October, the first full week of November, or perhaps roll it into Thanksgiving.

The idea right now is to hit SoUt in a mountain bike and canyon extravaganza of epic and body wrecking proportion, though it’s conceivable I might go further afield. M’s business enterprises are certain to have her full attention by then, so I’d be looking for partners in crime for chunks, or all.

Brainstorms? Volunteers?

  3. ahhh… a trip to so. utah in oct/nov. sounds so nice. it’s actually something i’ve been thinking about for a few months now (or perhaps jan/feb instead). if it weren’t for the $600 commute from alaska i’d commit to it already. instead i’m just going to let the idea bounce around in my mind a little longer and keep hoping to find a $600 bill laying around here somewhere.

  4. or perhaps i wouldn’t be welcome to join you guys since my name isn’t dave? :)

  5. We’ll call you Dave, anyway. DH, I’ve been tossing around some really dumb ideas for a W-E SoUt routes. Old Uranium roads, old wagon roads, river crossings, a hike through a particularly nice set of narrows,…

  6. I can’t do middle of Oct. We’re alternating taking fall break, and those weeks are the same as local public school breaks. As I don’t have kids, I needed to be magnanimous.I’m also elk hunting on the 20th thru the 24th.

  7. novembre in Utah sounds great. Can someone write me a note to miss work? :) Keep us posted, UT is great for me since I can get there reasonably quick.
