Very evocative.

Next two in California, the next in Moab, and perhaps the next in New Mexico. Have to see what the fitness is doing by then, but I’ve never been to that part of the state, and Matt’s races sound like they’ve been really good. That and in the last two weekends I’ve filled up on being home.
It also occurs to me that Taos and Sante Fe ought to be investigated in our quest to find a next home. Here’s a list of attributes, by way of brainstorming.
Me
-Year round or very nearly open trails, at least close by.
-A real winter with snow and occasional temps below O(F).
-Small enough town so I can ride to ride/run, and get groceries and go to the bar on a bike without fearing for my life.
-Lots of sunshine.
-A job might be useful, at least until M’s business starts supporting us both.
-Scenic splendor.
I think the key to having these things is a diversity of relief very close by. When we searched for places to live last spring, I said we had to have at least 3k (or maybe it was 5) of relief within 10 miles. That may not have been adequate. The heat and blah of this summer have gotten to me, and I want to be done. No more AZ for me, unless it’s Flag.
