It’s the most tiresome yet amusing of formulas, that for bike possession:
h=n+1
Where h is eternal happiness, and n is the number of bikes currently owned. So, it’s no coincidence that just as the Lenz is dialed and set, I start thinking about future use of $$$$$. M and I are well off, but she’s starting a business and I decided to not go to law school, so we’re not rolling just yet. More troublesome is the drive, to improve!! rather than be content. Working on that.
Project number 1 is finishing M’s mountain bike. We need to buy a hub and have a front wheel built out of the rim we already have, get a set of roads discs, and build it up. Not too expensive or difficult.
Project number 2 is my rear wheel. It took a good bit of truing to get it back in line after the CO/UT week, so it will need attention within the next few months. The question is to be fancy (Stans), or get another A719 to match the front, which has been stout beyond belief.
I also want to resurrect the Monkey into a more respectable, performance singlespeed. Right now it has risers and v-brakes, because we had them sitting around. Flat bars SUCK! V-brakes (at least for the front) suck! The two in combination with a rigid bike and rocks are horrible!!!! So much less control. I don’t know how Ed does it:

So in the future is: another drop bar (probably the Gary), a front disc wheel, and a front disc brake. Seemingly simple, but those details add up. Returning the Monk to a more classic itteration, like before suspenions entered my life.

In the more distant future, tempted by snow biking and Jill’s effusions, is a Pug.

And how could one not!? A necessity for CO and proper snow, methinks.
