Assistance required

I’m off to the wilderness with the crackheads, and if we get lost…. well, I may get roasted.

Tehe.

Bags are packed, blahblahblah. It’s been too long since I’ve ______. And today the Escalante is part of that.

On a different note, I learned today that 39% of the earth is “wilderness,” defined as an average of 1 person per square kilometer or less. Of course, 1/3 of that is under ice, but it still seems like comforting statistic.

Is that a mark of cynicism?

“The idea of wilderness needs no defense, only more defenders.”

“…in Wildness is the preservation of the World…Life consists with wildness.”

  1. *Jealous*That’s the kind of GPX plan a guy could get excited about.Bill and Kathi (race directors of Iditarod Invitational) rode some kind of route through the Smokey area, and they were absolutely raving about it when they got down to Tucson a few weeks later (!). (Probably moreso than any other section of their route)Enjoy.

  2. I imagine it’ll be very similar to our plans. Not too many roads up there (or so we think).

  3. I have wanted to ride Smokey Mountain for some time. I wish I was coming with you! From Big Water to Escalante, and from Escalante to Salina, and from Salina to Park City is a doable route, and one I have toyed with for a north to south trans-Utah.Have fun out there.
