Meme, beautiful me

Please ignore and forgive the excessive me-age, this is my lame way of uploading to picasa and preserving things for memory. These are all Harris’ excellent work. His tiny camera around the neck rig is obviously far superior, in that it gets pictures taken!

Saturday morning, rolling out in the first hour.

Topping the big un’. This is now my desktop.

Packing on Sunday morning. Note lack of bullet holes and cute hood. The packing system, in particular the under-saddle stuffsack, worked very, very well. In general, the bike just kicked it all weekend.

The only flaw was my overly rigid pack, which rubbed some vertebre raw on the second day. I pulled the alu stay out of the RT 25 yesterday, and imagine that will fix that issue for future outings. That and a smaller bivy (my Bibler Big wall is HUGE packed.) and I’ll be dialed for this sort of thing.

Washed out cattleguard in Collet Canyon, proving that it was at one time a serious road and not a mere “route” down the wash. I thought out launching off the 1′ drop on the far side, but let me lameness get the better of me.

Overall a very tame stretch of wash.

Fire! Small sticks of dead, dry rabbit brush burned easy and well. Ashes crushed and buried, left nothing but tire tracks.

  1. I thought your kit was darn light and compact. Get your pack figured out you will have it going for sure!

  2. On the list (if I were to get real serious about it):-lighter bivy-handlebar bag or something to better access food-lighter sleeping bag (weather dependent)-stove and pot like yoursFor racing in warmer conditions (read, Trans-Utah in October) I think I could get it down to a comparable load on the bike, and pack a little bigger than my standard long day job (something around 1300-1500 cubic”, like a Wingnut Enduro).Aggh, I starting to sound like Plesko! My clothing was perfect. Though I do need to get a new pair of shorts.

  3. Everytime I look at the pic on my desktop, and think about how (all things considered) NOT tired I was at that point Sunday, I cannot help but think of what a burly, ox-like SOB I am.;)

  4. That looks like good times

  5. You guys are going to have to do a NOLS style equipment layout next to your bikes prior to your next expedition… I am still trying to fugure out how to saddle up for a full day sans support & water – you had bivy gear too?!?!
