Sedona Big Loop

So, Chad emails me with a really good idea I shoulda thought of a few months ago, so now I’m running/stealing with it.

Munds-Cowpile-Jim Thompson-Chimney Rock-Dry Creek Rd-Long Canyon Rd-Deadman’s Pass-Cockscomb-Rupp-Girdner-Herkenham-Old Post-Templeton-Llama-Little Horse-Broken Arrow.

Duh.

I’m thinking a red Christmas ride on December 15th. Starting and ending at Oak Creek Brewery.

  1. YO! I said YO! I am so in. PLLEEEEASe do not let me out on this one.Talk about yum!

  2. I am in also for the “pre-ride”

  3. dang.dat is a sweet loop.

  4. More beta please. Distance? Estimated time out? Elevation, etc…

  5. http://rockyroad5050.wordpress.com/3-sedona-big-friggin-loop/My guess is about 6 hours, a little less than 50 miles right now, and I originally stated 10,000+ climbing… I now think that it is in the neighborhood of 8-9k. Topofusion is acting up lately and losing some of my trail that I am stitching together.

  6. got a way to make it longer with less road…at Broken Arrow go to Morgan Road but then make a detour to: Mystic Trail-Chapel Rd-Tunnel-HT Tr-Templeton-Red Rock Crossing-Ridge Trail-Table Top Tr-Mesa Tr-Past the school-89-Drop to Schnebly (onto original course)

  7. That would allow another stop at that bike rental shop on the corner of 89; they have cliff bars, water, etc. I think that would put the route upwards in the 70+ miles, more appropriate :)

  8. Chad, I’ll have to see a map on that one, and thanks for putting up with me dragooning this idea.
