Modifications, house

Legs are still quite thrashed from the weekend, so this afternoon I set myself to the task of organizing and cleaning the garage. It had not been done in the year and a half we’ve lived here, and I wanted to make space for the truck and alleviate the need to scrape the windshield in the dark every morning for the next couple months.

Tasks: collapsing and stowing boxes, disposing of trash, organizing tools and car detritus, and sweeping a gallon of dirt and various bike parts (chain links, small bolts, cable bits, rubber fragments). After, a good home for the bikes was needed.

90 minutes later, no money spent, and voila:

Odd bits of wood, nails, some zip ties, and one old road rim. Bikes arranged big to little. The center pair will even be functional by the end of the week.

Listening to: Mozart’s String Quartet No.22 in B flat minor on Pandora (Music Genome Project, thanks Ed!)

Words utterly, utterly, fail.

  1. That Paul Bunyon bike rack rocks!

  2. I liked being able to avoid a trip to the lumber yard, and conceive, begin, and finish the project without interruption. I don’t like phases for such things. Your SS analysis is totally awesome, btw. Psyched for Camp Lynda!A general note: Pandora is so cool. it tells me why I like what I do, better than I’m able to tell myself. Right now: classical stylings, a small orchestra, featured cello, tonal harmony, and major key tonality (Haydn cello concerto). The net is cool.

  3. I need to make one of those soon… I am accumulating bikes too fast now. Planning on going down early to Kentucky Camp (Friday) to set up the tent and save some spots. You in?

  4. Yep. Sounds like Tom P is doing something similar. Not sure when I’ll be leaving here (Thursday late v. Friday eaaarly).

  5. A tidy garage is a happy place. Nice work.

  6. EDE Pandora rocks!! Very fun site.Hairball: Love the SS stuff.Ion: Thanks for turning me on to the above.

  7. I have Pandora tuned in constantly and love it. I set it to a station based on my musical mood and let it run. Occasionally I do get song repeats, but there always seems to be something new and interesting to listen to based upon my selection. With Squeezebox I have it set up to wirelessly play through my stereo (I do need the L/R wire interconnects). So wonderful! But that does cost some money – $300 for the unit and I think Pandora will charge once the thirty day trial through SB is over.I haven’t touched my cd’s in weeks!Ed

  8. Okay, I didn’t know what Pandora was until today. Unbe-frickin-lievable! Between that and KCRW.org I do not think I will ever buy music again. Is that bad?

  9. I like that rack amigo! I made mine out of two by fours and old hockey sticks. I put the 2x4s on a wall and on the floor, then ran a diagonal brace at either end and filled in the middle with the hockey sticks at diagonals to hold in the wheels. Mine is a little of a PIA for the disks on the wheels – yours looks much simpler.
