Obama

A matchup between Mr. Obama and Mr. Giuliani, who was forged in the racial crucible of New York’s police brutality nightmares of the 1990s, or between Mr. Obama and Mitt Romney, who was shaped by a religion that didn’t give blacks equal membership until 1978, would be less a clash of races than of centuries.

I took the time to look up some of Rich Lowry’s columns, (archived here) and am a bit sad that I bothered. He’s always seemed to me a quite unperceptive thinker, and why he keeps getting invites to be on All Things Considered and The News Hour on Friday is beyond me. The Times articles commentary on Lowry’s commentary is quite mild.

  1. That reading introduced me to Mike Huckabee. Probably not electable, but sounds like the right Republican for me.Too bad I am now independent and won’t be able to vote in the primary.

  2. Don’t give up too quickly – everyone says Huckabee’s poised to surprise in Iowa – could make him look a lot more electable if he wins and people on the fence start sending him money.

  3. He doesn’t have to be perceptive to work for the NYT — in fact, it helps him that he’s not.
