A warm gun

Happiness being..

..potentiality. One of the rear’s is for sale on MTBR right now, if you want it (or a brand new 160mm rotor, and front 160 adaptor) speak fast.

A day of odds and ends, including installing the above. Canti and a load of new tires tomorrow should complete the refittings.

I also attended a 70 minute Yoga class at the Y this evening, first Yoga for me in many years. It was excellent, and I will absolutely be back. The class helped, but my legs are still tight and sore from the the weekend. A bit disconcerting in it’s longevity, I can only take it as feedback that while my fitness is pretty good, the running legs need some work before they’ll be able to handle the training load I want to give them. It’s the Landis Thesis, as espoused in an interview in Bike sometime before the Tour scandal: that overtraining is an phantom, merely a sign of “not having training enough for that level of training.” So, we’ll all always be both over and under trained at any given moment. Except when we’re not.

My hope is to get all my ducks in a row, full power of the legs back, and the SS dialed in so I can ride it on Saturday.

  1. Landis thesis! Never heard of it but it rocks. I totally agree with it and can actually back it up with squiggly lines as you might imagine. The corrolary is Coggan’s phrase “the more you train the more you can train.”As for your current dilemna, it could have more to do with specificity than lack of fitness. You’ve been biking a lot more than running, right?Baby steps my friend. Us enduro nuts never get that part :)

  2. Agreed on all fronts. The engine is there, but the “suspension” needs tuning and improvement. Running in the canyon is like that, especially down the Bright Angel which is never “that” steep, and thus suckers me into bombing down like crazy. On Saturday I ran the first three miles down (and first ~2500′) in 18 minutes, with a stop to delayer. Baby steps, indeed. The interview is worth seeking out, if only because it consists of Landis and Zabriskie talking lots of shit.
