Retrospective 2007: 3, The End

And of necessity, the beginning. I intend to stay away from the computer, possibly entirely, for the rest of the year, certainly while I’m off with family. It will be a moment to step away form the tyranny of the machine, and then come back with fresh perspective and renewed enthusiasm. So, this will be my last post this year.

The first thing I must say is prompted by Chad’s comment from last night. It bears mention once again: I’ve been priviledged to meet a lot of wonderful, rare, people this year. The internet is unique, and it only gets better when you realize that these are people you’ll like in person, too. To all of you: it’s been an honor, one I hope will only continue.

I put my goals for next year in a Google calender, visible on the sidebar. On the whole, I want to improve my consistency. I’ve done lots of notable things in my life, and I know that many of them could have been better if my head had been more cooperative. I have questions about how best to go about preparing for racing in the next 6 months, but the larger question is will I have the discipline to put in the sustained work I want? My main goal for next year is to make that answer yes. It will mean waking up and doing my core work every morning. It will mean carving out time to sleep, get work done, and train. It will mean doing all the intervals, everytime.

And last but not least, more good words about the senator. Dave Brooks is a thinker I respect.

Happy New Year.
