Trapped

By the car.

This is why I didn’t impulsively run down to Tucson last night for the SSAZ race/party, and why I’m lurking around home right now. Because a certain car hasn’t (ahem) run in three months, we have no backup method of motorized transport. So, when two days ago our Xterra started knocking and running roughly, it was a big damn deal. All sorts of nasty thing loom on the horizon. M did research, I bummed a ride to work, and she stayed home and replaced the spark plugs. Which sort of worked. The “service engine soon” light did not go off. So, plan B. Which for the moment seems to have worked.

So, the crisis is averted, and I can go to the Grand Canyon tomorrow. I don’t like being so constricted, dependent on something seemingly beyond my full and total understanding. Makes me appreciate what some folks are able to do, and the irony of having four bikes in the garage which are rarely used for practical transportation. In part due to my own laziness, in part due to the fact that we live ~10 miles+ from singletrack, and most roads to (for instance) the gym are scary busy.

It all makes me think.
