Off to CA

This is the face of fun, from Friday.

But fear is on the horizon.

The C2M 100k is by far the biggest psychological challenge on the schedule this year (so far). By the math, I can do it; but the unknowns are vast. The distance certainly, but the night without sleep will be a good experiment for future use. Never something I’ve been good at or particularly relished, but all things can be changed if desire shows the way.

It should be a catalyst for sloth in the next five days. Already some time in Joshua Tree, the Banff Mountain Film fest, bike porn, and roots sushi are on the menu. Fun, yes.

And I’m nervous, quite, already.

Focus…..

Back on the net (?). Until then..

  1. I can’t say you’ll finish because I don’t know. I know you’ll learn and the effect it will have on the future will be HUGE if it’s anything like the learning I did all last year.Pushing without sleep seems to get easier with practice too. Focus the mind :)

  2. If you have the time drop me a line when you are in J-Tree. My home is near.

  3. Sleep is over rated. Just ask any parent, resident, or soldier in battle. You do what needs doing. It should be the least of your worries.Have fun!

  4. It takes courage to start a race since it teaches us to push ourselves, to go beyond what we think is our personal limit. Ask yourself one question while you are alone on the trail. Can I push myself more? The answer is always “yes.”

  5. good luck out there. it should be a great day to run 100k. what with the solstice and full moon and all that fun stuff.

  6. Awesome buddy, just awesome. We all are proud of you for the massive effort you are throwing out this year. And just think…you get a good week of recovery (beer), rest (beer), and relaxation (beer).
