They come in waves

So this what I know, from talking with Ed (as promised!), Marni, and getting a message from Dave (sorry, off riding):

-Jefe (not Marshal!) fell asleep at the wheel, rolling and totaling the Element.
-They’re both relatively fine, Jefe may have spleen issues.
-They’re stuck in the Show Low hospital.
-There’s some crazy shit involving a U-Haul?!

Goes to show that surprises, both good and bad, come in groups. Best wishes sent, to all parties involved. I can’t imagine being in Marni’s shoes, she sounded damn brave 30 minutes ago, but my heart goes out to her in particular.

If Ed, M, whomever else and I need to mount a combined Plesko shuttle-rescue mission tomorrow and/or Saturday, we will! The Xterra has lots of space these days.

And the race will go on, too. Good luck all around!

Friday AM edit:

Chris is apparently headed home, solo and UHaul, as we speak. Ugg. Hope he makes through with minimal suffering.

Jefe is still in the hospital. Hopes he makes it out without undue complication.

AZT racers are starting in mere minutes. To spill the beans: both Basinger and Curiak made the drive down with Fred, something Scott was not meant to know until this morning. Another reason I’m bummed to’ve missed out on the fun.

Everyone have a good weekend now!

  1. Whoa…Sent a chill down my spine. Keep me in the loop please.

  2. ‘s why I put this up. Get ahead of the story. My understanding is that at this point the issue is “just” a serious pain in the ass for all involved. Jefe has some folks coming down to take care of him, and Chris needs to get home. And get a new car.Eekk!

  3. Thanks for the offers to help and the phone call! Chris sounds bored to tears driving alone in the Uhaul with little or no radio, but hopefully he’ll make it home before toooo long.
