Firstly, the Lenz is not back together this evening. The fucking bike shop in Iowa sent it to High Gear rather than us, and I found out too late to do anything. Experiences like this swear me to order everything from The Path and be done with it all.
So, I’ve been reading some interesting stuff instead. Like this Kokopelli 4.5 day trip. Awesome, and confirms conditions.
Watch out!

Mike’s got a good post going, too. The San Juan stuff is particularly eye popping. That’s Hardrock country..
This Western States trip makes me look forward to foot travel season. Come summer, it’ll actually be nice to take some time off the bike. I can only hang in so long before the outdoor ADD kicks in.
The News Hour this evening had I think a brilliant segment called Millennial Makeovers, discussing the ways in which the present generation (1982 onwards, I barely don’t count) will affect the national conversation when we come of age and take power. It echoes thing I’ve been saying for quite some time. For instance, that gay marriage will be legal in the US by 2060. Too bad they hide it on the website!
Lastly, I’ve become addicted to tubeless. The Dry X was just fantastic all last week, and not only because it’s a great tire. I did the ghetto cut-tube conversion on my Mavic A719 and Weirwolf this afternoon. It aired up very easily once I soaped things up, and I added a huge amount of Stans and yellow tubeless slime to ensure longevity.
I hope the Ignitor and Speed disc conversion for the back of the Lenz goes as well tomorrow, once I get my bike back!
Good night.
