Papers suck.PERIOD.
-
And were a, bio major?Bleh.TESTS suck.

Bio is for morons. (So is med school).Papers graded on the prof’s feelings suck. Tests are (more) objective.I had a social worker call me and ask if I wanted to participate in a “debriefing” with a bunch of staff involved in an awful, awful case (really bad, patient died despite everyone’s heroic efforts). Traumatic situation for all of us.My response was that the best debriefing for me was to get me an autopsy report so we can do better next time. Talking about my feelings won’t bring anyone back. Then let me go for a long ride.Different strokes.

Cant take your papers into the next world … ride on. So, can you take your wisdom?

To quote Thoreau: “One world at a time.”Also, objectivity is faith-based.
-
all this time I thought that was an abbeyism. sometimes the two are indistinguishable.
-
Abbey quoted Thoreau on that one.
-
…and titled one of his books – his final personal history work – “One Life at a Time, Please”

It’s funny, Abbeys fiction is less fictional than his nonfiction. The Fool’s Progress is his best novel and most personal work.Black Sun was his personal favorite.Desert Solitaire is his best. One the great works of metaphysics in the last 50 years (something which almost no one knows).
