Nice day

Bright, sunny, first solid day in the 70’s I can recall this year.

A good day to get out, stretch the legs, get out the cobwebs from a 12 hour day at work yesterday, and do some training.
Singletrack in the Rattlesnake was good to go, only a few bits of snow in the shade.  I did a few laps, feeling some good energy on the singlespeed, and was headed home to do some work.  I took the road instead of the usual bit of trail, as I was going to hit the climb up through Lincoln Hills, and caught a little too much air going across a driveway, hit a cobble wrong, and down I went.
Concussions are stupid.

  1. did you at least get to ride in a meat wagon?

  2. Damn mate, everything alright? The sight of medical paperwork is never good…

  3. Um, no he didn’t get to ride in a meat wagon… he called me to come get him, then five minutes later he called me again, to come get him… not realizing that he had already called me…he then preceded to look at his watch and declare – “If it weren’t for my watch I wouldn’t even know it was Monday” – three times, in three minutes, as if it were an entirely new thought…it was over two hours after the accident before he started remembering things again…he should be fine.

  4. And I should include that he was taken directly to the hospital and when his memory wasn’t better after an hour they did a CT scan just to check, and everything seemed fine.It was interesting for awhile… I kept asking him the same questions over and over again – some he got right, some he got wrong – but he kept answering them as if there were totally new, not realizing that I’d asked him the same question maybe five minutes ago…really spooky for awhile.

  5. Now I’m just tired and have a headache. From crashing, of reading a bunch of student drafts after crashing and spending a few hours in the hospital? Who knows.

  6. Dang Dave. Glad you’re okay. Do you need another new helmet again?

  7. Yow. There are much funner ways to kill off brain cells than that.Since we all know how thick skulled you are, how’s the bike?

  8. Bike has a few tiny scratches in the end of the right Ergon. The bars aren’t even out of alignment.

  9. Damn dude be careful. I’ve got far too many checks on the concussion line and now avoid them at all costs…At least you didn’t once get one by sailing PAST the high jump mat at a track meet.Heal up soon.

  10. Trying to add up all the potential substantive head blows…….too many, really. Helmets work, use ’em!

  11. Ouch. Sorry to hear that. Get better.

  12. Ha. I’ve seen that scenario many times.”What happened…”Description.”What happened..”
