Ready

Yesterday morning I got out on the last official training ride before the KMC 200.  I know the last ~10 day training block has gone well because even after two days off the bike, I struggled on the two 30 minute climbing repeats.  With a fairly large and totally off the bike taper, the strategy has been to push hard, but not dig too deep a hole.  I think, I hope, I’ve hit it dead on.
I’m ready because I have to be!
Adding to the full body exhaustion, I managed a two hour nap yesterday afternoon before pulling a 1900-0700 shift last night.  I never felt tired until the last hour or so, and crashed out for almost 5 hours as soon as I got home, but I’m a total zombie right now.  After putting a new chain, rear tire, and sealant on the bike, and doing laundry, I have no further ambitions for the day.  Final details before blast off tomorrow.
All of this of course seems trivial next to the various Grand Loop exploits.  I wish I had been out there, but this year it was not meant to be.  All my friends provide extra impetus to make this an extra special summer, though.

DH sez, mess with me and I’ll shoot you with my laser!

  4. good luck at KMC, man! should be fun. perhaps i'll have to make the trek down there next summer. but i've got to make it through this summer, first!

  5. Laughing… I think it was a laser used to dry the trail in front of him…Not sure how much of KMC I'm gonna make. Forces are conspiring once again to keep me away, even though we'll (hopefully) be based in Flag by then.
