Rode a mountain bike for the first time in 17 days today. Very nice, almost sad I didn’t bring a bike along on the midwest trip. Not sad I didn’t have to scrape bugs of it when we got home. The dirt in the Rattlesnake was nice and tacky from the rains, and my legs were frisky and demanded a route with plenty of fall line singletrack climbing. Now they hurt, which is wonderful. Time to start training for the MDH in a day.
Beer
We’ve lived in some excellent places, many of which have had some pretty good beer, but none thus far have had a really exceptional local brewery. By exceptional I mean, one which makes two or more beers which could make my best of list any day. New Belgian is one (1554, Biere de Mars, Mighty Arrow), Blackfoot in Helena is another (IPA, Stout), and Bell’s Brewery can now be added to the list. Both of the below are truly exceptional, I’ll be sad when our stash is gone (give it three days).

I should add Deschutes (Porter and Stout).

And Unibroue (Terrible, La Fin du Monde).

That MDH in a day looks fun. One of these days…

It's AMAZING trail, but so far from anything. It's a nine hour drive from us, but if not now, then when?

Living in Bloomington, Indiana, we used to go up to Michigan 2-3x a year for shows or races or tattoos or fishing. When in Michigan, we always sought out the Bell's. Fantastic stuff.
