The future

I got a job.

In a few weeks I’ll be starting, up in Kalispell, working as a youth case manager for a private non-profit.  The money is pretty bad, and the organization and work perfect.  I’m anxious to get started, as I’ve been out of the field for too long.  I’m also anxious to normalize life, day to day, week to week.  The last twelve months have provided a lot of fantastic moments, and a lot of upheaval and difficulty.  Having the overall picture settle down and consolidate would be welcome.  Of course, I have to move and figure out how to do my new job first.

I’m very happy to be staying in Montana.  More than anything else the space has grown on me, profligate rivers and forests combined with few people, Glacier, Yellowstone, the Bob, the mountains next to the backyard.

There’s more I’ll miss about Missoula than I have the wherewithall to express, but yesterday evening partially captured above might give an idea.

Sad, and happy.

  1. I am happy. And Missoula isn't very far. I go there all the time. You can ride with me when I do!

  2. Congrats on the new job and on your masters. That is a great area.

  3. Dave it has been great to have you as a riding partner and more recently a trail companion. We have enjoyed numerous trips over the Sheep Mountain Trail together and each time it was fantastic. It is good you don't have to move out of state and I believe that what brought me back to Montana has embedded itself in your soul. Welcome home and enjoy the ride.

  4. Kalispell will be perfect for you, Dave. You'll only be a hundred miles from what you love in Zootown and you'll only be a hour's drive from The Canyon and GNP!

  5. I am happy for you but sad for me. Hopefully we will still find time for plenty of winter adventures in northern Montana.

  6. Good for you Dave! You know… there is that 'meta' part of things, that 'epistemological' part of things……and then… the REAL things .I always loved that scene in "The Natural" when the Glen Close character tells the Redford character something like: "…I believe we have two lives..one we learn with…one we live with…"Figure out your new job? Hah!Gently and kindly show the kids what you have seen and felt as you have shown me on this blog….. *listen*…..a little empathy ……you know! All the best to you Dave!
